my offbeat favorites :: met costume institute's gala 2012

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte and Van Cleef & Arpels :: thank god for something other than a gown & the fact that it's Rodarte makes it insanely better...duh.
Diane Kruger in Prada :: i love how this fits and i won't apologize for it.
Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren :: she looks like vintage screen siren. Ralph Lauren never looked so good.
Caroline Trentini in Olivier Theyskens :: i wish the sequins top was a bit more cropped but either way i love it.
Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row :: i've always been a sucker for abstract draping and mko. dunzo. love her crazy hair and makeup as well.
Emma Roberts in Escada and Daniel Swarovski :: she is such a little lady always and she always picks the best shapes for her figure.
Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino :: love the pattern and fit. those metal cuffs she added hinges on perfection. way to modernize an otherwise too vintage look, sjp.
Hanneli Mustaparta in Calvin Klein :: making bloggers everywhere look good.
Linda Fargo in Naeem Khan :: this cape is literally in my fashion history book. so glad that she had the courage to rock it and wear that headpiece as well. bravo.
Lily Collins in Valentino :: i'm not really sure why i like this so much but i do. it has a ghostly//ethereal feel. it looks like she was waiting for a lover during the civil war and stayed that way.
Rooney Mara in Givenchy :: she has a rare talent for making a palette of neutrals and blacks look so interesting.
so there you have it friends! i wanted to include shala monroque and stella mccartney on here but could not for the life of me find large, full-length photos of them. please let me know if you find any.

also, i must note that there were so many terrible and plain ensembles. has this world lost all creativity?! sheesh.

there was obnoxiously apparent trending going on as well. for those of you who care::
-sequins in silver, copper and bronze
-tangerine {even sephora's doing it with their collaboration with pantone}
-metallics
-dark lace
