this place.
as in...my blog.
blogging all of a sudden fell into my lap and got really serious all of a sudden once i began covering other artists and designers. i would get press releases, obsess about page views and freak out about post frequency and content. now don't get me wrong, i am truly passionate about supporting other talents but that was just the thing, i felt such an overwhelming responsibility to them all but there were just never enough hours or words to be written in a single day. it was literally killing me.
sheesh!
what happened to this sweet, little place being my inspiration diary?
what happened to this little place being the exact location i shared news or sneak peeks at my upcoming items?
well, it's time i brought it back. i've shied away from it for too long.
erhem. thank you for listening to my rant. now to get back to why i'm here right now. i am working on a new collection. i made my goals for 2013 and DANG! are they long and complicated but i'd be the first to admit that i was surprised by everything i accomplished in 2012. so i am hoping i will keep on trucking in 2013.
so for my new collection, i've been all over the map. experimenting with some of the weirdest materials, exploring my passions and curiosity and above all learning from my mistakes. i'm learning {haha!} that learning from your mistakes is what makes you business minded. my last collection broke the bank. literally. it ended up being pricey for my customers and i don't want that. i am a heavy believer in the idea of bauhaus which was the idea that everyone, rich or poor, should have the luxury of owning art. that's what i view my jewelry as, art. and i truly believe that it should be affordable - especially if i want it to be available to everyone.
so i'm learning. and revising. and restructuring.
i'm excited about the prospect again and it feels so exciting and important! i get giddy when i think about it. it gives me purpose. and for this, i am ever so grateful.
today i wanted to share with you some images i've had on my moodboard for my spring/summer line. i've really been drawn to the 60s and 70s lately. i'va had a love affair with the color orange since i was born mainly because it reminds me of a warm, summer day. i've also been lovely really funky illustrations.
so here's to keeping it fresh, honest and inspired.
thanks for your support.
xx caitlin
