big retro fantasy hair styles with a modern twist

i am a very nostalgic person. i am drawn to decades past. i am also drawn to fantastical things. hence why the images above have been floating around in my mind. i love the mix of retro styles with modern, dramatic flair. i think i may have to try one of these out for an event i have tonight. i will take plenty of pictures if i do!

also, i spent last night around the city with my friend lydia of pierogi picnic. it was fantastic! we ate thai food {our favorite!!}, walked to a fashion event, took pictures of graffiti, filmed cool things...and guess what?! i am going to work out my new blogshop video skills with it this weekend! can't wait to make something semi-awesome for you to enjoy!

shooting star hair barrettes at rodarte

once you have gotten over the initial shock of the dare i say garish makeup from the rodarte nyfw f/w 2012 show, you might appreciate the 40s messy & teased bob along with the lovely shooting star barrettes and the giant gold hair pins. they were so fantastic. but you won't be able to find these puppies since they were custom made for the show. i am considering designing one of my own and having it cast...that's how much i love these.

p i n - u p . h a i r . a n d . f r e n c h . l e s s o n s

i have been hanging on to this image for quite some time now.
i like to do that - not sure why. maybe i have possessive tendencies.

but i am seriously in love with this hair. actually, that whole
ensemble is drop-dead gorgeous. that skirt, scandalously chic top,
those sunglasses...that hair.

ahhh, if only i had enough time, oh, and money.

and as a matter of fact, she reminds me of someone...
she looks just like leslie caron, the french actress from the movie
'gigi' and 'father goose' - both are movies that i adore.
you should see them some time if you have a chance.
