you may or may not have noticed that i am obsessed with rocks. my dad and i used to collect and classify them when i was little - i know, nerd alert! to this day, i still love them. i am so psyched that people wear them all the time now too!

so in preparations for renegade this weekend, i decided to learn how to solder them - my rock collection that is - so i could turn them into lovely, wearable pieces. this was intense even for me, mainly because i am very clumsy and working with tiny items and a huge scalding rod doesn't really sound like the best situation. lucky for me, i have a fire department lieutenant as a father, who oddly enough, loves testing out fire and hot things...weird.

i was so grateful for his help - even though he nearly maimed me at least a dozen times while wielding the iron. but once we go the hang of it, it turned out to be so much fun! the solder brought out the beautiful color of each stone and engulfed them in this gorgeous mercury-looking case. i am so excited to finish them tonight.
