ART + SCIENCE PRESENTS ART AND SOUL
hello lovely chicagoans!
won't you join me for a creative night out in wicker park to benefit a wonderful association? this debut of art + science's art + soul night out at double door {in chicago of course!} will benefit the national association for down syndrome which was actually...
founded in chicago in 1961 by parents who chose to go against medical advice and raise their children with down syndrome at home. their pioneering efforts have made it easier for later generations of individuals with down syndrome to be accepted by their families and communities, to develop their capabilities and to work towards independence. their mission is to ensure that all persons with down syndrome have the opportunity to achieve their potential in all aspects of community life.
this cause is very near and dear to me as well as my appreciation for the sheer genius that oozes from the fantastic creatives at art + science. i'll be sharing some behind the scenes footage for those of you not in the area - but for you lovely locals - won't you come and join in the fun?
hope to see you there!

sneak peek :: my style shoot with the urbaness
![]() |
photo courtesy of Jazmin Corona for The Urbaness |
I was so excited when the sweet Lizzie approached me about doing a style shoot with her new site The Urbaness. Today is the official launch of the site and I am so excited to finally start reading it! The Urbaness is Chicago's premier city guide and lifestyle website.
The Urbaness will be updated daily and cover a range of topics from style {but of course!} to green living, the arts and around town. Their main goal is to inspire the everyday Chicago girl to fully embrace the city, within her means and in style. How wonderful, right?! It will be so nice to have a REALISTIC perspective from all types of Chicago girls!
Here is a bit of their official statement - I loved it too much not to share:
Inspiring adventure. Inciting curiosity. Emboldening the city girl to seek the world outside her door...Call it a city guide or call it a love letter. The Urbaness celebrates -- in photos, in-depth interviews and advice from experts -- the spirit community that set the Windy City high above the rest. Look to us to incite a spur-of-the-moment urban adventure, to fall in love with a tucked away boutique or to find calm and balance while living your life in one of our nation's busiest cities. --The Urbaness
It sounds amazing! I am so intrigued!

such wonderful treasures to discover this past weekend at the randolph street market! i seriously become increasingly thrilled with each vendor's setup. extremely talented that's for sure. i had four favorites as far as curation and display goes:
- Denise Odell at Bleeker Street Antiques
- her neutral whitewash color palette is so fresh and elegant
- i loved that she used horns to display beautiful silver jewelry
- Brian and Sumaya at STC Finds
- i could literally live in their display - it's so marvelously utilitarian and bohemian at the same time
- their tote bags are killer...definitely a must have for fall
- Jonathan Stigler at Jonathan's
- he has an incredible knack for making industrial hardware look ultra chic
- i was obsessed with his adorable and colorful retro synchronized swimmers
- Don at Don and Marta Orwig
- they have some of the most handsome and rare antiques - like their amber ghost chairs or oddfellows hand painted banner...which both were to die for i might add!
- add on the giant luggage collection, almost-petrified and mounted tree trunk slice and a giant molar and you can bet i'll begin to develop a deeply rooted hoarding problem
get ready for the next market this september on the 29th & 30th. find out more here!
and below was one of my many purchases for my dad...a fellow lover of aviation. especially retro models. he was so excited when i have it to him.

a perfect outfit for a day at the vintage bazaar :: aragon ballroom
living in chicago, you sometimes take for granted all the rich history and architecture that surrounds you on a daily basis. one of the places that i always seem to forget about is the aragon ballroom. i have been lucky enough to see bloc party perform here as well as florence and the machine. but when you are seeing a concert at night sometimes you forget to stop and take in the architecture around you. so it was really cool to see the venue today {during daylight hours} while attending the vintage bazaar.
besides purchasing quite a few lucky finds, i found myself enamored with the facade of the ballroom as well as the intricate adornments on the inside. so here are a few of the snaps i shot as well as a little outfit post -- complete with my adorable kate spade armadillo bag...i've never been so in love with a purse before.
hope you had a lovely weekend!!
