jayson home :: spring 2012 catalog

as a chicagoan, one of my favorite things to do is visit jayson home in lincoln park. i feel like a kid in a candy shop every time i'm in there. their store specializes in scouring the globe for both modern and vintage furnishings that are a slightly edgy and always elegant. their store oozes with eclectic, well-traveled goodness.

during one of my visits i fell in love with a giant, turn of the century luggage case for a harp. it had aged international travel stamps layering the outside leather. it was simply amazing and had such a wonderful history to share.

so needless to say i suppressed a shriek when i received their new online spring 2012 catalog. some of the furniture in there was INSANE! my two favorites being the ones pictured above - both very different styles but equally intriguing. and much like their store, every item in the catalog's layout was meticulously and deliciously curated as you can see in the second picture above.

nature at its finest :: trip to the peggy notebaert nature museum

i am happy to say that i accomplished quite a bit this weekend. with the honey by my side, we saw 21 jump street {which was hilarious but a little over the top at times}, ate at the original lou malnati's, caught myself up on the second season of bored to death, reminisced with flight of the conchords {i miss that show} - all of this with the new hbo go - which i love, bought an amazing quilt at pottery barn for only $113 {!!!!}, picked up some makeup i had been needin', picked up jeans in a smaller size {i have shed quite a bit of weight thanks to insanity}, got to wear my crazy new platforms from asos, found an adorable new rug for the bedroom for only $42 {!!!!} and oh yeah, got to visit the peggy notebaert nature museum in lincoln park for the first time without being there solely for an event!

it was amazing! that place is strangely close to paradise. every room and outdoor nook was fascinating but my favorite part {of course} was the butterfly sanctuary. it's a large, almost tropical, room with misters, humming birds, adorable flightless birds that scavenge on the ground, colorful flowers and vines and of course butterflies. you aren't allowed to touch them for obvious reasons but they are free to land on you - and they did! i could not get a ginormous owl-eye moth off of my back - i had to shake my shirt gently to finally get him to take flight again - it was very entertaining. they even have a large mirror on the wall when you leave to make sure no one's on you ready to escape!
