live from new york...it's my new collection!!
hello everyone!
so i know there has been some really awful radio silence for a bit here and i must apologize but as you can see from the jewelry above, i have been VERY busy!
i am that girl that dreams about weird alien creatures and gets excited about it. i am that girl that freaks out when she sees deco architecture. i am that girl who is in love with charles rennie mackintosh and gustav klimt. i am that girl that lives off of comic books and fantasy novels. above all, i am a bold woman - especially when it comes to fashion.
this new collection, reflects all of these parts of me.
all of the pieces were drawn out and then hand carved, by myself, from wax. then i had a talented local metal artist lost wax cast my pieces. these are the fruits of my labor. almost all of them will be available in my new big cartel shop by this weekend.
i would love to hear what you think!!

watercolor dreamin' :: study group comics
i absolutely love handmade comic books. i collect them like my lovable, yet crazy, grandma collects dead birds. i'll save that subject for another time...
so when i saw 'the blonde woman' by aidan koch my heart sped up. it's so lovely and quiet. i love when you can tell a story just through art, without saying anything. sure there's a bit of text scattered throughout but it's definitely the paintings within each frame that captivates you.
i scour comic book stores in chicago for good indies every now and then. i've been lucky enough to find some really amazing ones. for those days where i can't get to one though, i am so glad i found study group comics' site.

a bit of a home tour
![]() |
happy little folk bunny sits perched atop a lovely gift from my honey :: a handmade jewelry box that plays my favorite song, lara's theme from dr. zhivago. |
![]() |
bright sconces, candlelight in the fireplace {mom's great idea} and some vintage architectural charm. |
![]() |
i love being surrounded by mini jungles at home...even better when pretty scraps of fabric find their way to wild branches. |
![]() |
a handsome picture. i found this in the discount aisle at homegoods for $30! it's huge and the dark wooden frame adds such an amazing woodsiness to any room. that lovely fabric wall succulent is by one of my favorite etsians, katy from winsome hollow. |

two other homegoods' picks:: that green chair has a tiny tear in the top so it was on super sale for $40! the pillows in the room are also from there. love the pattern on them. that lovely pink girl looming in the background is an insanely gorgeous screenprint by jordan grace owens. |

15//30 project :: capsule wardrobe recap
sheesh! so many outfits - well, 15 pieces to be exact and boy did i ever exhaust them! i even got quite a bit furious with myself when i felt like some of the pieces would get a bit stale in the way i was mixing them - shame on me! but i did it and boy was it challenging but well worth it!
believe it or not, this is only half of the outfits i put together. there are still 14 more - granted, some of the above looks i did repeat out of utter laziness but hey, the days were far enough apart for anyone to notice.
in case you missed my previous posts about the 15//30 project, it is basically a challenge to select {and be limited to} 15 pieces of clothing for 30 days. you need to mix and match so that you are challenged to create new looks. it was quite fun.
please check out the other bloggers who also joined the challenge::
tania from t like bubble tea
sam from sam is home
karen from tomimito
alicia from kitten masks
joy from of stranger sensibilities
monique from petite avenue
clare from curious looking glass

hot commodity :: the whitepepper boutique at asos
i'm swooning over the adorable hipster collection entitled the whitepepper over on asos marketplace. it features a curious curation of unique vintage pieces and indie designer originals. you can expect to find handmade items full of tiny details on here.
asos describes the collection as::
'NOT fancy, but stylish, comfortable and unique.'
well, mr. whitepepper...i can sure as heck guarantee that i'll be keeping up to date on the new findings in this shop.
view the entire collection here or follow them on facebook here.

gatsby glam :: kelly love s//s 2012
i wanna rouge my knees and roll my stockings down...and all that jazz.
good golly do i love this new line entitled pocket full o' posies by the talented australian {now london transplant} designer kelly love! when i read the collection statement before opening, i became deliciously giddy at the thought of "picnics in the meadow...old fashioned femininity, vintage lingerie and 1930's cocktail parties." ughh, yes please!!
i couldn't help thinking of daisy buchanan as i flipped through the lookbook. the patterns are simply enchanting and the shapes - ah, those shapes. they seem so true to the decade in which they embody. i just can't seem to get enough. they all seem so flouncy and light - absolutely perfect for spring and summer.
kelly, best of luck to you in this new season. this collection is truly magical.
photographer :: claire pepper
model :: georgia from milk management
hair & makeup :: michelle dacillo
for the home:: sculpted porcelain bird dioramas
i'm definitely nesting. well, rather getting ready for a big move.
so while looking for pretty things to furnish my new place, i happened upon this precious little etsy shop: villarreal ceramics by vanessa villarreal.
these delicate bird dioramas are just too sweet. the pale, muted colors against the stark white reminds me of vintage frozen bisque dolls.
i definitely foresee these lovelies in my somewhat near future ;)
